Developing a VCB to stand up to the rigors of naval application
The challenge
Our client had a programme to develop a VCB that could stand up to the rigors of naval application, with one of the most onerous tests being its ability to withstand shock loadings of 20g lateral and 70g vertical.
The results
Elmecon designed a kit of additional parts that could be attached to the actuator driven VCB and housing. These additional parts meant that the client only had to produce their standard breaker and a kit of parts, rather than a special set of breakers, and allowed the units to pass the shock loading tests.
